This Mosaic was made as part of creating art after Hurricane Helene destruction. Although my art studio is in our home, my Art was displayed in the River Arts District in Asheville, North Carolina. All of my art was swept away in the horrific flooding in the area.
It took a while to become motivated to make art after this disaster. It affected everyone in the area in one way or another. Our home and my art studio were not destroyed, for which we are truly grateful. However, the devastation was so vast that it affected everyone in spirit. What came out of the rubble was that the community came together to help each other. Hence, the naming of this piece. Even though the area has many crevices and cracks, there is gold found in those cracks. The gold is the people who live in Western North Carolina!
