Inspired by the flowers of a passion fruit vine that grows wild in my backyard in San Juan, P.R., “Wild Passion” is a mosaic that captures the flower’s striking structure and vivid presence. Using glass and wire, I echoed the intricate beauty of its petals and curling filaments, forms that seem both delicate and resilient.

Beyond their ornate blooms, these flowers bear a sweet-and-sour fruit: hidden, unexpected, and full of flavor. This work is a tribute to the quiet generosity of nature—how beauty often carries nourishment, just beneath the surface. It’s also a celebration of summer’s return, when the fruits of this vine become a refreshing juice, cocktail infusions, the essence of many treats or just simply enjoyed straight from the vine.
