This piece represents to me my love for the iconic symbol of the mermaid. I actually was inspired by a simple postcard my brother sent me while visiting Warsaw, Poland. In Warsaw, a bronze statue of “Syrena” sits prominently in the city square holding her sword and shield. Legend has it that Syrena was the beautiful daughter of Sea King Baltyk, who ruled his kingdom located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The legend is mystical and represents all we adore about fantasy, love, honor, and kindness.
