As a mosaic artist, I wanted to recreate the timeless act of doodling, where one is fully immersed in the color, line, and texture that markers can create—only this time through mosaic. My chosen tesserae are beads and polymer clay slabs that I make myself.
I give myself a few self-imposed guidelines: I can only use two to four main colors, I can’t overthink, and I must trust my instincts, knowing I’ll figure it out even if I create a design challenge for myself along the way. Then, I GO! I might start by creating a few lines and filling in an area, or I’ll begin with a pattern that captivates me and build from there, continuing instinctively.
