For the past five years, I have explored the art of mosaic as a personal sanctuary—a way to create with my hands and give shape to my imagination. As a Puerto Rican artist, mosaic art has become my therapy, bringing me peace and harmony. Aromas de flor tabaco draws inspiration from my love of tobacco—the scent, the ritual—and its deep historical roots in Puerto Rico. This piece honors the beginnings of tobacco cultivation, evoking the essence of the countryside where this plant once thrived.
Using stained glass, metal wire, vase glass, stringers, and dalle verre, I composed a mosaic that speaks to both memory and heritage. Through the colors, textures, and delicate assembly, I invite viewers to be transported to the fields of tobacco, to feel the earth and inhale its fragrance. This work is both personal and cultural, bridging a sensory memory with a symbol of Puerto Rican identity.
