I watched the 2024 eclipse with my coworkers in a parking lot in Plano, Texas. “Black Hole Sun,” by Soundgarden was our soundtrack. We took our safety glasses off and stared in shocked amazement as the sky went to blue, then purple, then black, and the stars came out. All around us, the world stood still. We shared a hushed moment of magic with friends and strangers. I wanted to capture that wonderful moment when the colors of the sky slid from twilight to night and back to day. The sun into a ring of fire.
