The Western Screech Owl is a familiar presence at my studio home in the redwoods of California. This owl in particular has a curious, silly personality, and is, itself, very small (like this piece!). When I venture out at night, these owls will find me. Their hoots fill the air and one will suddenly appear on a branch, peering at me with big yellow eyes.
These moments are special – fellow forest dwellers meeting under the moonlight.
