Reflections on Still Waters explores the quiet beauty of an aquatic landscape through a carefully layered composition of glass and mixed media. Lily pads of varying sizes appear to float across a textured surface of blues and aquas, while sculpted flowers introduce focal points of warmth and organic movement. The interplay between opaque, translucent, and reflective materials creates a convincing sense of depth, inviting the viewer beneath and across the water’s surface simultaneously.
The composition is structured by horizontal glass stringers that establish visual rhythm and suggest the gentle movement of water. Black linear elements define the lily pads with an expressive, almost calligraphic quality, contrasting with the soft curves of the leaves. Mirror fragments and faceted crystals capture and redirect light, causing the artwork to change subtly with the viewer’s position and surrounding illumination.
The strategic use of color—from cool blues and greens to vibrant yellows and earthy browns—creates balance while reinforcing the natural environment. Layering, transparency, and texture work together to produce a multidimensional composition that celebrates both the permanence of mosaic and the fleeting, reflective qualities of water.
Rather than depicting a literal landscape, the work evokes a meditative atmosphere where light, reflection, and nature coexist in quiet equilibrium. It invites viewers to pause, observe, and experience the serenity found in stillness.
