Artist Statement – Harmony in Bloom
Harmony in Bloom reflects my ongoing fascination with nature’s ability to create beauty through diversity and balance. Inspired by a fleeting garden moment, this mosaic captures the interplay of blossoms, foliage, light, and texture that often goes unnoticed in our busy lives.
Using hand-cut stained glass and mixed glass materials, I assembled individual pieces much like nature assembles a landscape—each unique element contributing to a larger, unified whole. The varied blooms, emerging buds, and surrounding greenery symbolize growth, renewal, and the interconnectedness of living things. Differences in color, shape, and texture are not isolated; instead, they work together to create a sense of harmony.
As a mosaic artist, I am drawn to the transformation that occurs when separate fragments are brought together to tell a story. In Harmony in Bloom, those fragments preserve a moment in time—a quiet reminder that beauty is often found in simple, everyday encounters with the natural world.
Through this work, I invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the balance, resilience, and wonder that surrounds us.
