Lunar Drift: The Moon Jellyfish

2024
6″ x 6″
glass, beads, shells, glass globs
$400

This title captures the celestial aspect of the moon, along with the graceful movement and otherworldly charm of the jellyfish. Having spent the last 4 years in Puerto Rico, snorkeling among moon jellyfish, watching turtles eat moon jellies, swimming out of a swarm of moon jellies, and being mesmerized by their languid movement, a mosaic of a moon jelly was just the thing for me! I have used entirely iridescent glass for the jelly fish and the background water and ocean bottom. The pink glass spheres represent other moon jellyfish in the waters nearby. The clear colored glass for the seaweed further evokes the magical feeling of the underwater world. Actual seashells and some silver beads complete the piece.
