Inspired by a Picasso Guitar

Various pastel sea glass, brass and bronze pieces, Czech glass cabochon and tile
$350

My mosaic inspiration is from Pablo Picasso’s 1917 “La Guitare” (The Guitar) hanging in the Norton Museum of Art, in West Palm Beach. For comparison, you can see his Cubism-inspired painting on the museum’s social media page. https://www.facebook.com/nortonmuseumofart/photos/happy-birthday-to-pablo-picasso-who-was-bornonthisday-musical-instruments-in-gen/10155804380173535/
I used various pastel sea glass for the patchwork layering effect and framing. The centerpiece is a brass door opener from the Covid era. Bronze flower gems are the string tuning pegs and bridge pins. A striped tile, the strings. The Czech sun cabochon, a decorative sound hole.
The guitar is a beautiful musical instrument and most likely why Picasso painted dozens of these iconic instruments.
