Rupture attempts to convey the violent interruption of our society’s norms by the current Trump administration. The black, spiky shale erupts in the center to represent the violence, corruption, and immorality that infects our society, spreading outwards. The uniform white marble at the edges represents stable society, but the darker marble, less uniform, represents the corruption erupting into our society. I have added a few bits of red smalti to represent the damage of violence, such as the deaths caused by the ICE occupations and detentions.
