Atlantea tulita, known by the common name in Puerto Rico as harlequin or “mariposa quebradillana” , it’s a rare species of butterfly endemic to the island. Rarely spotted in specific habitats close to the west coast. Unfortunately this beautiful butterfly is endangered due to primarily loss of habitats. As viewers we are enchanted by the beauty of our main source, nature itself. Butterflies can be a symbolism for beauty and also fertility for the role of pollinators. I used these elements to build a narrative of
fragility of this species against the hardship of the environment. Where it will unravel for survival and how we can contribute to their safety now that we know its name.
